Nai Ngiab Thai Fish Ball Rice Noodle Soup - 4 Years Michelin

Nai Ngiab has been recommended by Michelin Bib Gourmand for four consecutive years and has been open for more than 50 years. More than 100 kilograms of fish balls are sold every day. The "round fish balls" are the best. The texture of the fish balls is light and requires no effort to bite. When I bit into it, I found a bit of soup inside. Another impressive thing is the "fish dumpling" is also enjoyable. The minced meat filling is very soft and tastes slightly salty without any fishy smell. When you bite into it, the soup inside is squirming like a steamed bun.

The fishballs in this restaurant are made by themselves without added MSG, using three types of fish, swordfish (to make it fluffy), amberjack (to make it crispy) and mackerel (to make it sticky). The name of the restaurant is also the name of the owner. The meat is scraped off and mixed together to form fish balls, which are delicious.

The owner invested 1.2 million baht to purchase ventilators for Nakhon Pathom Hospital during the epidemic, and also donated 1 million baht in cash to Siriraj Hospital to save the lives of patients infected with COVID-19.

The store is divided two areas, outdoor and indoor. There is an air-conditioned room for indoors, which only open in certain hours.

They renovated in just few years ago to expand the area, and originally it did not have indoor air-conditioning rooms.
 

There are various types of noodles on the menu, ranging from 99 baht to 119 baht. This menu is only available in air-conditioned rooms, so its noodle soups are only available for the "extra fish ball" bowl menu.

The food was served very fast and I ordered the extra fish ball Thai rice noodle for 99 baht. The bowl is specially made to shape like the fish.
 

This type of fish bowl will serve if you order "extra fish ball" noodle or soup.
 

Have you noticed that his bean sprouts are different from other bean sprouts in Thai rice noodle soup?

It is a kind of mung bean sprout grown by the owner himself. The boss hopes that every customer can eat healthily. Mung bean sprouts that have not been soaked in anything or blanched.
 

Store logo is printed on the bowl.
 

For drinks, I ordered Thailand's famous iced black tea. This beverage shop is located opposite of the store. It is also a cafe opened by the owner. If you finished eating here, feel free to go and grab a drink.

The rice noodles used in this restaurant taste smoother and softer than other Thai rice noodle soup restaurants.

The soup is also super tasty, which is made with pork bones and added with lard and garlic oil. It’s really delicious!
 

Check out these fish balls. Take a bite, you can feel that there is a lot of soup inside flowing around inside your mouth.

Another signature is the fish dumplings, which have a lot of soup. Once you bite into them, your mouth will be filled with the delicious fusion of pork and soup.

Ordered from other customer.  Obviously the regular portions didn’t have as much fish balls and fish dumpling as what I just ordered, but it is still a lot.
