【Bangkok's Old Town Legendary Noodle Shop】Bamee Ban Pong Jae Dang: Dive into the Alleys for a Bowl of Time-Honored Wonton Noodles!

In Bangkok's competitive food scene, I prefer following the footsteps of locals rather than chasing trendy restaurants. This time, I uncovered a super hidden gem that has been operating for over half a century—Bamee Ban Pong Jae Dang (บะหมี่บ้านโพงเจ๊ตั๊ง), located right next to Lad Phrao MRT. With no flashy signage and no English menu, it remains a taste of childhood memories for Bangkok locals!

👀 First Glance in the Shop: The Cooking Counter is the Stage

And this pile of delicious fried pork belly and char siu!

The open kitchen dominates the center of the shop, where a third-generation master chef stands before the gleaming griddle. On the left, stacks of egg noodles are piled high, while on the right, a pot of bone broth bubbles away. Every movement is seamless—scooping the noodles, shaking off the water, adding ingredients, and ladling the soup—like a well-rehearsed performance.

The chef first blanches the noodles, then places garlic oil, seasonings, char siu, cilantro, and other ingredients into the bowl.

Next, he ladles in a generous scoop of rich, aromatic broth.

The shop is spacious. After ordering, simply find a seat.

In addition to wonton soup noodles and dry noodles, the menu also features other Thai dishes.

🍜 Seasoning Ritual
Don’t rush once the noodles are served! Follow the standard流程 of local foodies:

Add a spoonful of fish sauce.
Sprinkle some pepper.
Add a dash of chili powder.
Finish with a hint of chili vinegar.

🥤 Pair it with the tea provided at every table (ice needs to be ordered separately).

📍 The location is right next to MRT Lat Phrao—just walk out, turn right, and it’s one building away.

🕚 Business Hours: 11:00 - 24:00

📍 Practical Information
Ordering Phrases:
▶ Soup Noodles: 「Bamee Nam」
▶ Dry Noodles: 「Bamee Haeng」

This shop doesn’t just sell noodles—it’s a living museum of culinary culture. Every stain, every weathered corner tells a story of 50 years of unwavering dedication. If you believe that “true美食 is found in unassuming hole-in-the-wall joints,” this place is absolutely worth a special trip.
